Managing director of Clerical Medical and Halifax Life John Van Der Wielen is to leave Lloyds Banking Group later this year to return to Australia. Lloyds managing director of general insurance Phil Loney will become managing director of life, pensions and investments business across Scottish Widows and Clerical Medical. Scottish Widows managing director Andy Briggs has become managing director of general insurance.
Resolution has appointed Sir Malcolm Williamson as chairman of Friends Provident Holdings, replacing Sir Mervyn Pedelty, who died in January. Williamson was appointed non-executive director of FPH following Resolution’s acquisition of Friends Provident last November.
Lawrence Churchill has been appointed chair designate of the trustee corporation that will run the National Employment Savings Trust. Churchill assumed the role of chair designate on February 1 and will take on the full responsibilities as chair of the Nest Corporation on July 5, when it is estab-lished. He is currently chair of the Pension Protection Fund and will retain this role until June 30.
Partnership has appointed two senior directors to its long-term care division. Phil Austin will step into the role of director of sales and Nye Jones has been appointed director of local authority development and domiciliary care. Austin was director of partnerships at Cigna and has also worked for Axa PPP healthcare and Denplan. Jones joins from Axa PPP healthcare, where his positions included director of intermediary development and director of aligned distribution.
Partha Dasgupta has been appointed to the role of chairman of The Pensions Advisory Service. Dasgupta, who replaces outgoing chair Margaret Snowdon, will remain in the role for three years. He joined the Pension Protection Fund as director of investment and finance in 2005 and served as its chief executive and accounting officer from 2006 to 2009.
Standard Life marketing director Andrew Gillespie has been replaced by Bruce Kelsall, who was group marketing operations director. Gillespie is under-stood to have left the firm for family reasons.
