Liontrust Asset Management has appointed John Ions as head of retail, the latest step in rebuilding the business following the departure of fund managers Jeremy Lang and William Pattisson last January. Former AWD marketing director Graham Hooper also joined recently as an independent non-executive director.
The Investment Management Association has appointed Douglas Ferrans as chairman. Ferrans took over the role on January 1, replacing Robert Jenkins, who has left the UK to take up the role of CEO and managing partner of US-based macro hedge fund manager Combinatorics Capital LLC. Invesco chief investment officer and senior managing director Bob Yerbury assumes the role of deputy chairman and Schroders CIO Alan Brown joins the board.
Gold specialist Graham Birch has quit BlackRock after taking a sabbatical from the firm. Evy Hambro is to continue the management of the BlackRock gold and general fund.
Jupiter director of independent funds John Chatfeild-Roberts has taken over as the group’s chief investment officer from Edward Bonham Carter. Since 2000, Bonham Carter has combined the CIO role with his work as chief executive officer, a role he will continue. Chatfeild-Roberts’s position as head of the Merlin fund of funds team will remain unchanged.
Aegon Asset Management has added to its European equity team, with Pauline McPherson joining as a senior investment manager.
McPherson joins Aegon from Standard Life Investments, where she was a director of European equities. She had responsibility for running the group’s £1bn European trust.
