AWD Chase de Vere has appointed Carl Pimlott to the new role of head of professional development and training. His main responsibility will be the implem-entation of AWD’s profess-ional development plan in preparation for the RDR.

Former Pi Financial compliance director Harriet MacKenzie-Williams has set up new IFA firm Keystone Financial and hopes to recruit up to 20 advisers.

FSA chief executive Hector Sants will leave the regulator in the summer after three years in the role. The FSA board says it will announce the process for finding a successor in due course.

Tenet Group has appointed Jon Barham as head of sales. Barham will be responsible for the recruitment of new IFAs and new advisers into existing firms for the group’s Connect and Lime divisions and will report to sales and marketing director George Eleftheriou.

Barham joined Tenet as a regional business manager in June 2009 after three years as a partner in a Wiltshire-based mortgage, pension and investment company.

Former Lifeboat director Brian George has teamed up with former Lifeboat compliance director Ron Skinner and ex-Lifeboat and Thinc Assured finance director Bill Wynn to create Network Direct, a national firm for tied and independent advisers. George says Network Direct will be privately funded and will take a hands-off approach to its ARs, with no contractual ties to firms.

Standard Life has appointed Ronnie Taylor as director of intermediary partner propositions, taking over responsibility for its platform from Geoff Towers.

Towers is focusing on his role as marketing director for Standard’s established affluent client base.

He will also oversee the development of Standard’s digital infrastructures for the IFA marketplace.
