Tenet/Leeds City College exam aims to attract new blood
Tenet has teamed up with Leeds City College to launch a QCF level-five foundation degree for students wanting to become IFAs.
Tenet group distribution and development director Keith Richards says the firm is keen to bring new blood into the industry with a degree that covers basic qualifications, such as operating and giving advice and fee charging.
Intake for the course will begin in July with two weeks of distance learning for the QCF level-one exam. Tenet expects it will take around 18 months for those taking the degree to pass all the papers necessary to reach QCF level five but has introduced a trainee system for some to give advice under supervision once they have passed their first paper. This is expected to take as little as 12 weeks.
Richards says: “There is an evident need for new blood in the sector but there have not been economically effective mechanisms to allow small businesses to do anything about this. This degree should address this by giving the skills and competence for trainees to advise at an earlier stage within an existing firm at Tenet. We also have the abil-ity to expand the degree if we need to.”
