Skills Council appoints two new directors

The Financial Services Skills Council has appointed Sarah Thwaites as director of products and services and Dean Cassar as director of client services and engagement.

The new roles have been created following the strategic review of the FSSC, which saw it regain its licence from the Government in March.

Thwaites joined the skills council as director of skills development in August 2007. Prior to joining the FSSC, she was manager of industry training for the FSA and was responsible for the development and implementation of the FSA’s training and competence requirements.

Cassar joined the FSSC as director of accountancy in September 2008 following the decision to include accountancy and finance to the Council’s remit.

Prior to that he was finance director for a UK education charity, Learning and Skills Network, director of a national finance training company and head of finance for Liberata, a business process outsourcing company.

FSSC chief executive Liz Field says: “Sarah and Dean have already made a huge contribution to the Council and each brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to their respective roles. Both Trevor and I look forward to continue working with them and push forward our new strategy that places employers’ needs, experiences and involvement firmly at the centre of everything we do.”
