Skills Council appoints Liz Field as permanent chief exec

The Financial Services Skills Council has today announced that interim chief executive Liz Field has been appointed chief executive.
Field joined the Council as interim chief executive in October last year.
Field was previously chief executive of the FSSC’s predecessor organisations, latterly the National Training Organisation, before becoming head of organisational development at Gerrard as part of the turnaround team, which led to the incorporation of the business into Barclays Wealth.
More recently she ran her own consultancy business helping firms to implement change programmes and coaching senior executives.
Field says: “The industry has made it very clear that we have an important role to play in attracting talent and developing skills to help ensure the UK remains the world’s leading financial services centre.
“Having worked closely with the rest of the team to develop our new skills strategy, I am now looking forward to getting on with delivering a simpler more effective skills system that puts employers’ needs at the heart of everything we do.”
FSSC chairman Trevor Matthews adds: “Liz has already shown she has the ability and skills required to manage and motivate a diverse team and drive through strategic change.
“She has achieved a huge amount in the short time she has been at the Council and I have every confidence she will continue with this success and lead the team in delivering a new and improved sector skills council.”
