PFS announces new president

The Personal Finance Society has appointed Smith & Williamson director and national head of financial services Mike Fosberry as president of the PFS for 2010.
Fosberry, who served as vice-president in 2009, will take the reigns from current president Paul Lothian at this month’s AGM.
He has worked at Smith & Williamson since 1982, where he developed the financial services business. Prior to that Fosberry worked for Chesham Hill, Abbey Life and The National Mutual of Australasia.
Zurich Intermediary Group chartered financial planner Edward Grant has been appointed PFS vice president.
PFS past presidents Robert Reid and Carole Nicholls will both step down from the board at the AGM.
Lothian says: “Both have given selflessly of their time and gifts to PFS and I feel honoured to have served with them.”

I wish you all the very best in new role.
I would hope that the new President will take counsel and listen to us the members.
This has sadly been lacking in the recent past.

Perhaps our new president will contemplate splitting the PFS back to the SFA and LIA since hardly anyone wanted the PFS in the first place and it's done very little of note so far.

I wish Mike well - he has much to do. The PFS (or should I say CII) is little more than a regulatory lackey that knows only one word when the regulator comes calling: Yes!
Alas the likes of Andrew Fisher and his New Model (old model) Towry Law have done little for the PFS cause.

Welcome and best wishes for the year of office. Please make sure that you put Promotion of the professional cause top of the priorities and help our customers understand the drive for quality through RDR. currently bottom of the PFS list - with more exams and fees at the top!
