Money Marketing scoops best trade title

Money Marketing scooped best trade title at the prestigious Headlinemoney Awards 2010, held last night at the London Hilton.

Life and pensions reporter Helen Pow won the award for trade pensions writer of the year for the second year running and regulation reporter Nicole Blackmore was highly commended in the trade journalist of the year category.

Judges agreed MM provided the best overall coverage across all of the trade papers. Headlinemoney quoted one as saying: “It is head and shoulders above the rest with really good reporting on subjects such as regulation.”

Another judge said: “There is a sense that Money Marketing reporters are always out and about tracking down stories. They are like a rash… they are everywhere.”

Pow was praised by judges for having a good book of contacts and being “ahead of her competitors” when it came to breaking “cracking news stories”.

One judge said: “She knows exactly the sort of story which would make it as a front-page lead.”

Blackmore was commended for submissions which showed “great skill and tenacious spirit in a world which can often revert to copycat writing methods”.

Journalists are nominated by Headlinemoney users and a shortlist of five is compiled for each category. A judging panel, including editors from the national press, then whittles down the contenders until they have a winner.
