Jelley joins St James's Place

Former Skandia head of tax and financial planning Colin Jelley has joined St James’s Place as divisional director of private clients.

He will take up the newly created position in May and will lead the development of the firm’s plans to broaden its service for high-net-worth clients.

Jelley worked at Skandia for 17 years in a range of technical and product marketing roles and left the firm last November.

St James’s Place business development director David Lamb says: “Our higher-net-worth clients have increasing requirements for a broader range of services from St James’s Place and Colin’s appointment responds to that demand.

“He will lead our initiative to develop new services and products for those clients and help us grow the relationship between our partners and our clients in this important section of the market.”

Jelley says: “This is an exciting new opportunity for me to use my skills and knowledge to lead the private client development and extend the range of solutions for existing and prospective clients.”

Syndaxi Financial Planning director Robert Reid says Jelley’s appointment is “a coup” for SJP. He adds: “This is recognition from SJP that, where previously it used external sources for legal and tax help, it makes sense to have internal resources.”
