IFAs make up 40% of FSA authorisations in Q3

IFAs represented over 40 per cent of total new FSA authorisations in Q3, 2010, according to the IMAS quarterly FSA survey.
There were 129 new authorisations of IFAs out of a total 319 new authorisations in Q3. The study of the FSA register shows that total authorisations rose from 287 in Q2. Cancellations in Q3 fell to 425, from 495 in Q2.
The number of mortgage broker authorisations rose from eight in Q2 to 15 in Q3.
IMAS says there is potential for net positive authorisations in the foreseeable future, which was only achieved in Q2, 2007 over the past four years.

319 new authorisations against 425 cancellations in Q3. The FSA must be very pleased with such data. Of the 425, how many were IFA's?

For the past 20 years regulation has strangled the industry, reduced access to advice and we have seen the savings gap widen to a level where most Britons now have no savings at all.
As another quarter passes where the number of advisers diminishes maybe we should re-think regulation and think about who has benefited over the past 20 years.
