Grant Thornton UK has appointed Coutts & Co UK managing partner Martin Young as head of financial planning for London.

Young will oversee a team of seven investment advisers and will be responsible for “substantially increasing” the revenue of Grant Thornton’s London team by 2015.

Previously Young managed and developed the private client team for Coutts’ Fleet Street office. He focused on the legal and accountancy sectors.

Grant Thornton national head of financial planning Neil Messenger says: “I am delighted Martin has joined the firm and I am excited to see how he will take the team to the next level. He comes equipped with vital expertise at a time of great challenges in the market.”

Young says: “I am very much looking forward to joining the Grant Thornton team. In particular, I aim to build on the great work already being done to establish the team as a lead adviser in the market.”
