CISI shows rise in financial sector staffing

Sixty per cent of financial services firms believe they will increase their headcount in the next 12 months, according to a survey by the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

The research shows that 43 per cent of respondents believe staff numbers at their company will rise by up to 5 per cent and 9 per cent expect to see an increase of up to 10 per cent.

Eight per cent forecast a rise of more than 11 per cent in the next year.

But 40 per cent believe there will be either a freeze or decline in the level of employment at their firm.

CISI chief executive Simon Culhane says: “This provides further evidence that the worst is over for the industry but that we are in for a slow climb out of recession.”
